The Teleferico was opened on April 1st, 1981 on Cerro San Cristóbal. It has 72 cabins and moves at a speed of 4 meters per second. Its takes 20 minutes to do its run. Twelve towers support the cabins, with heights between 8 and 38 meters. A central motor of 100 HP moves the cabins. The Teleferico has special equipment for electrical emergencies that work immediately.
This exceptional transport begins its run in Oasis station, in the middle of Providencia (take Metro to station Pedro de Valdivia then walk north on the street of the same name until it’s end). Between this station and Tupahue station (pictured below) you can visit different places like the Botanic Garden Mapulemu, the Gabriela Mistral square, the Victoria large fortified tower (sale of hand-made product), and wine museum with wine tasting.
The Teleferico ends its trip in Cumbre's Station, at the top of the hill, where you can find a restaurant with good prices. This is also where you can find the Funicular so you can still continue enjoying in the Metropolitan Park.
